Mid October I took Carson and Emmett to the pumpkin patch with Emmett's preschool class. They both got to go the very next day too with Carson's preschool class with Grandma Hunsaker since Travis and I left in the middle of the night for our scuba trip.
This is a long, picture-full post, but very little text.
When we arrived, they were feeling shy so didn't want to play on the playground with all the other kids. To be fair, it was completely packed with kids and parents. So we explored nearby and found this lone goat wandering around outside the pens.
Here goaty goaty goaty...
Then the class was rounded up and loaded on big wagons pulled by big tractors over to the pumpkins, gourds and indian corn.
Everyone gets one pumpkin, one gourd and one indian corn. With the three of us each getting a bag this day and Carson, Emmett and Grandma each getting a bag the next day, we certainly had a lot.
Watch out, it's easy to trip out there.
Then we hopped back in the wagons to drive back to the barns and cider press. On the drive, these two were cracking me up. I like pictures three and four where it looks like Emmett is saying, "Isn't this fun, smile for the camera Carson!" and "You're not smiling. grr." In the end, not a decent single shot with both looking nicely.
Blue steel.
Then we went to the animals and the kids were given feed.
Emmett feeds a goat...
...Carson feeds a goat.
Emmett looks cute...
...A swan goose looks... intently at my boys.
A cow named Emmett and a pig named Carson
Time for the cider press. Carson remembered all the answers from last year.
The press is loud...
... and messy.
I love this shot of Carson listening with such sweet interest.
Time to taste test! Mmm.
gulp gulp gulp
More!
Ah, that's the stuff.
Lip smackin' goodness.
It's gone! (and my cup is wrinkled)
Off to play. It's all fun and games until two girls decided not to get off the slide and turn around to look back up and their parents are no where to be found and I start to remind them to get down when WHAM Emmett knocks them over. But everyone survived.
Maze time!
Coming out of the maze.
Usually there's a group picture here, but for whatever reason that just didn't happen this time. Or maybe we headed to snack too soon and we missed it, but we were told to head to snack after our turn in the maze and we stood around a bit.
In the greenhouse for snacks were some great carved pumpkins.
We were some of the first to sit for snack.
After snack they're free to go, so we went to this giant slide.
Seriously, it's huge.
Then we went to the fort where they climbed in through the tunnels and were supposed to come back out on the slide by where I was waiting. And waiting and waiting and waiting. Eventually I went into the fort to look for them and found Emmett had gone up on the walkway that connects to the fort and goes a long way away over the animal pens.
See him way over there? I'm zoomed in on him, he was farther than it looks. That scared me a little bit...
Carson and I finally catch up.
Here's a decent picture of the two of them!
My handsome man
Checking the map
I moved them in the direction of picking up our pumpkin bags so we could go, but first we stopped at the big teepee and Carson had a rest.
And so did Emmett
So tall!
After getting our bags, the boys wanted to play in the playground area. I couldn't blame them, it was pretty well deserted then instead of packed and intimidating like when we arrived.
Pirate Captain Carson.
Kings of the Mountain.
Carson had already climbed in this big tire and was looking inside it in this picture, he promptly popped back up and wanted out - fast. He said it was gross in there.
See-saw.
Tractor man.
The horse tire swings are such fun.
And a last climb up the rock wall for a slide and we finally got out of there.
Thankfully, the weather was great so it was an all-around fun morning!
