4th of July Weekend

My parents came down for the 4th of July weekend which was great. They had to camp it on an air mattress in the living room, but we packed it into the boys room during the day. On Saturday morning, while Travis was helping his Dad get the tractor and trailer ready for the parade, my parents took off to visit a friend. With everyone gone and Emmett napping, I jumped in the shower. When I came out I found the air matress was back in the living room, along with all of the boys' blankets and pillows. They were having a blast. All I could think was thank goodness we hadn't gotten the hallway pictures hung yet! Here's Avery all nested in watching tv on the last morning:

After the 4th of July parade, everyone headed to Ben and DeAnna's for a BBQ and fireworks.

Before it was time to eat, Avery and Alli got to digging in some mole hills. I really
don't think this picture does enough justice to how completely brown Avery's arms and
legs were! See his white toenails? With the spot he rubbed over one eye, he definitely
looked like a dog who'd been caught digging somewhere he wasn't supposed to!

After we ate, everyone grabbed their chairs from the
picnic shelter and headed out front for the fireworks.

Ben loads the canon while Jon makes homemade rockets

The kids loved the little ones

Avery loved the sparklers

Carson did not.

Get ready for a BOOM

Some of the boys running from a bunch of lit mortars.

This was Josh telling Shane the story of the guys' most famous childhood pyro
experience, the one where Josh blew his eyebrows from his face. The idiots
(Jake, Josh, Travis and Kevin) decided to light some black powder, which
burns slowly and they'd done in scouts, too bad it turned out to be gun powder

Hopefully all our boys learn something from their dads' experiences...

Happy 4th of July!

I love Avery's dog patch eye and white toenails. I also love your last photo of the fireworks.

I think Avery holding his hands over his ears says it all for a Hunsaker 4th of July celebration. If the crowd wasn't enough, adding the "guys" style of fireworks definitely was to put the noise level quite high. It begins with the canon and ends with them lighting several BIG ones to go off at once for a grand finale.
