Emmett's Birthday Party

Last Friday we had Emmett's birthday party.

Since Emmett is so into messes, I thought dirt cake was the way to go for his birthday. Complete with grubs and bugs. Emmett got a "little" pot just for himself.


And I made a big pot for the rest of us.


Family came over and everyone went outside to check out the new backyard (many posts on that huge project forthcoming...)

Looks like Dad may have struck out with this gift. Emmett did not like Rex.

Except Emmett kept looking over with worry at Rex.


But then he got a 4 wheeler!


See those fingers move? He's looking at Papa holding Rex and worrying about Rex biting his fingers off thanks to someone's comment about that.

This was funny, but poor Emmett...

Turns out he was just so so on the cake, but he loved the gummys.


Later Daddy tried again with Rex.


But then Daddy squeezed Rex to make him squeak and it was all over for Emmett.


Escape to the 4 wheeler.


Carson liked Rex though. He decided to play dentist.




After the party Emmett picked Rex up, held him at arm's length and put him back in the box he came in! So funny!

By the end of the evening Emmett warmed up enough (as long as no one squeaked him) to say hello, shake him and even gave him a hug goodnight.


Ah, and a kiss.


It took a couple days, but now he likes Rex well enough to squeak him himself!

Carson's First Day Of Preschool

Today was Carson's first day of preschool!


He was so excited!


Ah, my Mr. Carson is getting so grown up.

Time to go in! He was definitely ready to go and had zero problem leaving me. It was an easy day for him, and lovely and quiet for me with only Emmett at home.

Avery's First Day Of Kindergarten

We have a Kindergartner!


He was pretty stoked to go.


Carson and Emmett wanted in on the pictures too.


Amazing, they're all sitting together and looking!


But then pictures were finished in favor of watching a slug.

My Baby Is Two!

I know this has been a bit of an Emmett centric blog lately, but I certainly can't pass up his second birthday!

Wait, what!? How did my baby suddenly turn two?

He was so sweet!


And seriously the cutest baby ever!


Then he turned one and was so happy!




Although at one he was already a ball of mischief...




But now he's TWO!


And considering all his mischief, it's a good thing he's still sweet, the cutest thing ever and so happy!

Mr. Incredible

With all the posts about Emmett's mischief lately, I thought he could use a nice post now. Yesterday before church I suddenly realized Mr. Incredible was in the house. To be honest, I was remembering the tie being short in the movie but I guess I was wrong. Here's some screen shots to go with Emmett. I chose these screen shots because they're both moments when Mr. Icredible has just been caught or realized he's done something wrong and that's so apt for a comparison with Emmett...

Shaving Cream

That is what's all over Emmett.

Yes, this is another Emmett mishap post.

I had changed Emmett's diaper then changed Carson's right after, both stinky. In the time it took me to change Carson and dispose of the diapers Emmett got the shaving cream on himself and all over the counter and a big pile on... daddy's razor. Seriously? But I don't know what I'm supposed to do about this!

And it's not just the razor.

That was Aug 25th. Aug. 11th we had spilled milk, the beginning of Aug. we had 3 days in a row of toothpaste and other mishap plus there have been the occasional toothpaste plunders since then, the turtle wax and car wash I just posted about plus MANY more similar incidents that don't get documented and that's all just in the space of one month!!! And then today we found him on top of the washing machine. Why is that a problem? Because there are cupboards above the washing machine where I keep all of the chemicals in the house out of reach.

I literally have no idea what I'm supposed to do with these kind of things. Or with Emmett.

(Keep on chasing him, keep on cleaning up, and pray, because apparently it's impossible to keep him out of stuff.)

Avery's Sixth Lost Tooth

Tooth number 6 down the drain. Actually, that really almost was the case. Tonight Avery lost a tooth without even realizing it. Daddy was brushing his teeth and when Avery spit he wondered allowed "What's that!" meaning his bloody looking spit. Travis pulled the drain plug just in time for the tooth to jam in there on the edge. Travis had to have the tweezers to pull it out without it dropping down the pipe! Now he's lost the four front ones on the bottom and the 2 top central incisors.



Last time he lost a tooth, in July, he still didn't have either of his top central teeth but at least now one of his top central teeth finally came in. The one that came in has been missing a tooth since last September!!!

Turtle Wax

What's on your nose Emmett?


You heard me, what's on your nose?


And on your hands and shirt and shorts and leg...


Oh. Super.


Like Saturday when we were trying to work on our backyard and Emmett ended up across the creek, last night we were working on the backyard again when Emmett showed up like that. My inspection found the turtle wax. After quite some time cleaning up, and then going inside to wash my hands, I came back out to bring all the boys inside. When I grabbed Emmett's hand I found they were light green and gooey. I figured it was just from him playing in the spot where I had tried to wash off some that dripped on the RV pad.
Nope.
In the time I went inside to wash my hands he went back in the garage and got the car wash (a light green) out and started dumping it.
